Principal's Message

Welcome to Iroquois Public School, the home of the Lions!  I feel fortunate to work within such a caring community and with a group of committed staff.  These two factors contribute to our school’s positive reputation.  My vision for our school is to develop students who are productive citizens and lifelong learners who help to foster a climate of respect.

As the instructional leader at IPS, I will continue to put student learning first.  Modelling a love of learning and sharing this with our students is what the staff will do each day.  They develop lessons that are engaging and motivate our students to strive for their best achievement.  There will be well-rounded opportunities for our students from sports and choir to leadership and technology.  Each student will leave here understanding the value of our UCDSB Character Traits:  resilience, respect, perseverance, responsibility, empathy, generosity, caring, honesty, fairness and courage.  If our future community members are described by these characteristics, we have nothing to be concerned about.

The staff appreciate the strong level of parent involvement and support, and we can see the positive contributions these make to our students’ education.  Parents and community members come in to support our young readers, many volunteer to help run our fundraising programs and of course our School Council members meet monthly to make our school even better.  We are more than a school, but have become an extension of families.  This helps to create the warm and welcoming sense of community that makes IPS such a great place to be.

I encourage you to stop in or make an appointment for a conversation about our school and how you can contribute to our school community.
